Ice Cube collaborator Sir Jinx has dropped his royalties lawsuit against Grand Hustle Records LLC stemming from his production of the song “Dope.”

An attorney for the rapper filed court papers on Monday with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gail Killefer asking that the lawsuit be dismissed “without prejudice,” meaning it can be refiled. The court papers do not state if a settlement was reached or if the singer is not pursuing the case for other reasons.

The rapper’s real name is Anthony Wheaton and he alleged he was owed royalties from his work on “Dope,” which he says was subsequently played throughout the music industry.

In January, the same judge eliminated the rapper’s claim for unfair business practices. She also found that his allegations for conversion and unjust enrichment, as well as his request for an accounting, needed more facts and details to support them.

In a previous ruling dismissing Roc Nation LLC as a defendant, Killefer said there was “uncertainty” whether Wheaton was entitled to royalties from either company because his lawsuit had no specific facts showing how the rapper wrote and produced “Dope” and what royalties, if any, were assigned to him.

Wheaton’s suit, filed in July 2023, stated that he has waited for years to be properly compensated.

“Sir Jinx has attempted to be patient, but after defendants’ failure to receive an appropriate response and recompense, Sir Jinx files this case to assert the financial damages he incurred due to the defendants’ disregard and breach of contract,” the suit stated.

Wheaton, 54, is a cousin of multi-platinum producer Dr. Dre.
