CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” collected a leading 18 nominations Tuesday for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards, including a nod in the top category of outstanding daytime drama series.
“The Young and the Restless” will compete for the top prize with CBS’ “Beyond the Gates,” Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives” and ABC’s “General Hospital.”
“Beyond the Gates” collected 15 overall nominations, while “General Hospital” earned 13. “General Hospital” has won the award for outstanding daytime drama series the past two years.
Michelle Stafford of “The Young and the Restless” was nominated for outstanding actress in a daytime drama, along with Stacy Haiduk of “Days of Our Lives,” Heather Tom of CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie of “Beyond the Gates.”
Eric Braeden and Christian Jules Le Blanc of “The Young and the Restless” will compete for outstanding actor honors, challenged by Scott Clifton and Thorsten Kaye of “The Bold and the Beautiful” and Steve Burton of “General Hospital.”
For outstanding daytime talk series, nominations went to NBC’s “3rd Hour of TODAY,” CBS’ “The Drew Barrymore Show,” NBC’s “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Disney’s “Live with Kelly and Mark,” NBC’s “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” and ABC’s “The View.”
Kelly Clarkson and the team on the desk of “The View” — Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro — were nominated for outstanding talk series host, as were Tamron Hall for Disney’s “Tamron Hall,” Jennifer Hudson for Warner Bros.’ “The Jennifer Hudson Show” and Sherri Shepherd for the syndicated “Sherri.”
Entertainment news series nods went to NBC’s “Access Hollywood,” CBS’ “Entertainment Tonight” and Warner Bros.’ “Extra.”
The Daytime Emmys will be presented Oct. 30 at the Hollywood Palladium.
