The Critics Choice Association announced nominees Wednesday for the Sixth Annual Critics Choice Super Awards, honoring the “most popular, fan-obsessed genres across both television and movies, including superhero, science fiction/fantasy, horror and action.”
“Superman” leads this year’s films with six nominations including Best Superhero Movie. The cast’s David Corenswet, Edi Gathegi and Nicholas Hoult all received nominations for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie, while Hoult received an additional nod for Best Villain in a Movie. Rachel Brosnahan, who played Lois Lane, is also up for Best Actress in a Superhero Movie.
On the television side, “The Boys” leads with five nominations overall including Best Superhero Series, Limited Series or Made-for-TV Movie. Antony Starr earned a nod for Best Actor in a Superhero Series, Limited Series or Made-for-TV Movie, in addition to Best Villain, while Valorie Curry and Colby Minifie were both nominated for Best Actress in a Superhero Series, Limited Series or Made-for-TV Movie.
“Masters of the Universe,” “Obsession,” “Project Hail Mary,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “Weapons” all had four nominations in the films category, while “Fallout,” “House of the Dragon” and “Paradise” each earned four nominations in the television categories.
Winners will be announced Aug. 6.
