A 23-year-old Reseda woman was rescued in Rubio Canyon in the Angeles National Forest near Altadena on Monday morning after she went for a hike and became lost for two days, authorities said.

The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team and Los Angeles County firefighters responded about 8:50 a.m. to a report of a woman calling for help in the area of Mt. Lowe Drive and Maiden Lane in Altadena, according to Deputy Daniel Paige of the sheriff’s Altadena Station.

Once the woman was located, she was hoisted aboard a fire department helicopter and then taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia, Paige said.

The woman said she was on a hike to Echo Mountain when she took the wrong trail and became lost, Paige said.

“She was in a location where she could not hike back up due to the loose crumbly hillside, and she could not go any further down either,” Paige said. “The hiker had no cellphone coverage, very little food, water and lacked warm clothing.”

The woman told Paige she was “in over her head.”
