Red Flag Warnings remain posted for inland mountains and valleys Sunday, as strong winds coming off the Pacific Ocean pushed the fire danger above the critical level in inland mountains and deserts.

The onshore winds would dry out as they reach the mountains and deserts of Los Angeles County today, said National Weather Service meteorologists in Oxnard.

The wind flow was pushing a thick canopy of coastal clouds ashore, accounting for early morning drizzle in Pacific Palisades and elsewhere.

Red Flag Warnings were up as of 11 p.m. Saturday for the Los Angeles County mountains, north of Pasadena and east of Santa Clarita. The warnings extended east through the San Bernardino and Riverside county mountains, down into the Laguna Mountains east of San Diego.

Winds were forecast to blow in the mountains at 15-25 miles per hour, with gusts to 35 mph in the mountains.

The Red Flag Warnings were set to expire at 8 p.m. tonight in Los Angeles County, and at noon Monday in the arc of mountains from Wrightwood east and south to the Mexican border.
