In an effort to keep a tradition rolling since 1957, the grandson of a South Los Angeles Harley biker club gave out toys and food to the community.

The annual party at the Defiant Motorcycle Club, 8207 S. Central Ave., attracted at least 300 people Sunday, said the club’s business manager, Andrew Thompson said.

Thompson, 31, said his grandfather, John McCollum, known as PeeWee began the tradition in 1957 and passed it on to him prior to his death in 2012.

Most of the original members of the Defiant Motorcycle Club served in World War II. All of its members ride only Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

“I’m just here to give back and keep smiles on people’s faces —  and make sure the kids have a nice Christmas,” said Thompson, who is also known as Lil PeeWee.
