CHLA is inviting the public to go to www.chla.org/Valentine, choose a card — this year’s images are of a turtle, a whale and an otter — and then write a personal message of cheer to a patient.
The cards will be hand-delivered to patients, along with a goody bag, books and balloons, on Feb. 14.
For each card with a personal message sent by Feb. 14, BLVD Hotels has pledged to donate $1 to CHLA, up to $10,000, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
In recent years, participants from as far away as Australia, India and Brazil have prepared cards to lift the spirits of CHLA patients who miss school parties and card exchanges with friends and classmates.
