Traffic could be tough around Los Angeles International Airport overnight this week as three of the four Sepulveda Boulevard tunnel lanes in each direction will close starting late Monday.
The lanes are being closed by the Bureau of Street Services so the walls of the tunnel can be power washed. LAX officials recommend travelers plan ahead and allow more time for possible detours and delays.
The southbound lanes will close on Monday and Tuesday starting about 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning, and then the northbound lanes will close for two nights for the same time period starting Wednesday.
On Monday and Tuesday nights, Century Boulevard was recommended as an alternative to southbound Sepulveda Boulevard when leaving the airport, while anyone heading to LAX from the south and east on Wednesday and Thursday nights was recommended to use Century Boulevard to get to the Central Terminal. Access to the airport is also available via the 96th Street bridge and from southbound Sepulveda Boulevard.
