Authorities Friday tranquilized and relocated a mama bear and her cub after they wandered into a La Crescenta neighborhood.

Deputies from the sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station responded about 10 a.m. to a report of a bear in a backyard in the 2500 block of Cross Street.

They located the beasts and managed to contain them between some homes.

After several hours the bears climbed a tree and nodded off.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel used tranquilizer darts to subdue the animals, which were safely taken back into the wild, according to the sheriff’s department.
