Dreams will be made for dancers of all stripes Sunday at the “Dancing with Our Stars” competition, which benefits a variety of local charities.
“We fulfill peoples’ dreams of being a `star’ on this special Night of Enchantment,” organizers said. The competition will be hosted at Agua Caliente Casino & Resort at 1 p.m. in The Show venue.
The charitable competition is “a dance show with participation open to not only charities to use as a fundraising opportunity, but to `Amateur’ and `Pro/Am’ Couples. These couples, along with the charity dancers, will participate for `Audience Choice’ trophies in their respective categories,” organizers said.
In the past, “Dancing with Our Stars” competitors have raised money for 85 charitable organizations, such as the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association and Braille Insitute, with multiple teams dancing for each charity as a way to boost fundraising opportunities, organizers said.
Dancing with Our Stars was originally created by A Charity Affaire in 2006, according to organizers. More than $420,000 has been raised since that time.
