Sheriff’s deputies rescued two unattended girls who were locked inside a vehicle parked in La Mirada, authorities said Monday.
The deputies responded to a call about the situation at 2 p.m Sunday in the 13900 block of Imperial Highway, Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.
“Deputies were able to unlock the vehicle through a partially open window,” Ortiz said. “Both children were transported to a local hospital for assessment and later released to deputies.”
The mother of the girls was detained pending the outcome of an investigation and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services was contacted, he said.
