A man and a woman who suffered some smoke inhalation were able to safely evacuate their two dogs from a house fire in Shadow Hills Sunday morning that took 48 firefighters 51 minutes to put out.

The man and woman were taken to an area hospital in fair condition, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched at 4:14 a.m. to the single-story, 5,776-square-feet home at 9901 N. Sunland Blvd., Humphrey said.

No other injuries were reported and a cause of the fire was under investigation.
