A woman suffered what appeared to be minor injuries Sunday when she bailed out of a car just before it plunged 25 feet off a seaside cliff in San Pedro and burst into flames, authorities said.

The crash happened at 8:09 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Pacific Avenue, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

“Though witnesses stated there may have been others, LAFD ground crews searched and encountered only one adult female with minor injuries near the vehicle,” Humphrey said. “Despite wind, the flames did not extend to vegetation and were quickly extinguished.”

The woman, whose identity was withheld, was taken to a hospital for further evaluation, he said.
