A man was fatally struck by a vehicle when he walked into lanes on the Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood, authorities said Monday.

He was identified by the coroner’s office as Gary Rollins, 67. Rollins’ city of residence was not available.

It happened about 9 p.m. Sunday on the southbound side of the freeway at Burbank Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said.

The 45- to 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, Kimball said. His name was not immediately released.

A SigAlert shut down lanes 2, 3 and 4 of the southbound freeway lanes, but they were reopened at 11:21 p.m. Sunday.
