Firefighters extinguished a fire in an abandoned automotive shop in Arlington Heights in 13 minutes Thursday evening and no injuries were reported.

The fire started about 9:10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Venice Boulevard, near Arlington Avenue, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Nearby homes were at risk, but 39 firefighters extinguished the fire before any homes were damaged, Prange said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
