A man jumped to his death Friday from an overpass at State Route 126 over the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol was notified at 9:53 a.m. of a “male hanging his leg over the rail,” said CHP Officer Moses Marroquin. The unidentified man subsequently jumped and was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
All southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway at SR 126 were briefly blocked, triggering a SigAlert that was issued at 10:01 a.m. and canceled at 10:19 a.m., Marroquin said.
