The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was mourning Saturday the death of a 37-year veteran of the department.

Deputy Ronnie Bollig suffered an undisclosed medical emergency Wednesday morning, the department said.

Bollig graduated from the sheriff’s Reserve Academy in 1983 and worked at the San Dimas sheriff’s station until he began “his true passion for riding patrol motorcycles” in 2000. He continued riding until his death, serving residents of the county for 37 years, the department said.

Bollig is survived by his wife and two sons.

“His dedication and service to our department will not be forgotten,” the department said.
