A big rig overturned Thursday afternoon in Whittier, damaging 50 feet of guardrail and causing heavy traffic on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.

The truck overturned about 3:05 p.m. on the southbound 605 connector to the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

An ambulance was requested to the scene, but no one was taken to a hospital, according to Leslie Lua of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The truck did not leak any fuel, but the freeway’s guardrail was damaged, the CHP reported.

The connector was closed to traffic, triggering a SigAlert expected to last about an hour.

Traffic on the southbound 605 was backed up all the way to the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, KNX reported.
