A semi truck carrying metal products lost some of its load Wednesday morning on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Baldwin Park, causing blown tires to at least five vehicles and prompting the closure of several lanes of the freeway until further notice.
The first reports of vehicles running over some of the spilled load near the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway came at about 2 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
No injuries were immediately reported, but at least five vehicles were pulled over to the right shoulder due to tire damage, the CHP said.
The Nos. 1-5 lanes of the 10 Freeway at the 605 Freeway were closed until further notice. The car pool lane remained open.
