At least one person was killed Monday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Cerritos that caused one vehicle to catch fire.

The crash was reported at 4:26 a.m. on the northbound San Gabriel River Freeway at South Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the scene at 4:33 a.m. transported no one to any area hospitals, a county fire department dispatcher said.

Witnesses told the CHP two vehicles collided in the carpool lane and that one was fully engulfed in flames.

Just before 5 a.m., the CHP issued a SigAlert for all northbound lanes of the 605 Freeway and the South Street off-ramp.

No further details were available.
