Two children and two adults were injured Thursday morning when a pickup hauling a trailer crashed and rolled over on Interstate 10 in Coachella, throwing two occupants to the pavement.
The solo-vehicle crash involving a Ford F-250 pickup towing a trailer containing two all-terrain vehicles was reported about 6:30 a.m. near Dillon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two children were airlifted to an area hospital suffering from injuries described as moderate. Two adults were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, the Riverside County Fire Department said.
It was unclear which of the four occupants were thrown from the vehicle.
The CHP reported the crash was in the eastbound direction, while county fire said it was westbound.
The wreckage appeared to be confined to the shoulder and not affecting traffic.
