The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Saturday conducted a distribution in Maywood, the third of the 10-stop Pull Up Neighbor Tour providing continued support to communities of color.
The foundation provided food boxes, hygiene essentials, water, books, Dodger items, face masks and other items at the Southeast Rio Vista YMCA. Information about coronavirus vaccines was also distributed in an attempt to encourage recipients to get vaccinated.
The tour will continue through June. The other stops will be in Long Beach, Watts, the Inland Empire, Wilmington, South Los Angeles, East Los Angeles and Inglewood. It began April 17 with a drive-through distribution at Gonzales Park in Compton and continued last Saturday with a distribution in Van Nuys.
The tour was funded by a $50,000 grant from the foundation to Pull Up Neighbor, a Black-led community response nonprofit organization, focused on the health and well-being of minorities and vulnerable communities.
