Authorities Saturday were investigating a fatal crash near the Golden State (5) Freeway in Gorman where a pedestrian — a 59-year-old man from Squaw Valley, California — was struck and killed by a black Dodge Challenger.
Officers responded at 9:28 p.m. Friday to the 45100 block of Copco Avenue near the freeway, where they found a pedestrian lying in the street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A man who said he was the driver of the Challenger told City News Service that he stopped following the collision. The CHP said it did not have any information about the aftermath of the crash.
The name of the pedestrian will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The CHP’s Newhall office urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 661-600-1600.
