A woman standing on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday evening.
The collision was reported at 7:13 p.m. on the southbound Golden State Freeway connector to the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was not released pending notification of her next of kin.
It was not immediately known why the woman was standing on the freeway.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman remained on scene and is cooperating with authorities, according to the CHP. They were not reported to be injured in the collision.
The two right lanes of the southbound Golden State Freeway connector to southbound Hollywood Freeway were closed for an unknown duration due to the collision, Caltrans reported.
