Coroner’s officials Sunday released the name of a 62-year-old man who was struck by two vehicles and killed while crossing a street in the Green Meadows area of Los Angeles.
The man was identified as Demetrio Bravo Paz, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office website. Paz’s place of residence was not available.
The fatal crash occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Friday on Central Avenue south of 112th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Paz was crossing Central Avenue when a northbound vehicle struck him and the driver did not stop to render aid, police said.
A second northbound vehicle also struck him, but that driver remained at the scene, police said.
The LAPD reminded drivers involved in a crash to pull over as soon as it is safe to do so, call emergency services and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
Pedestrians were reminded to be cautious when crossing streets, obey traffic signals, cross within marked crosswalks and obey the rules of the road.
People who provide information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction or civil resolution of a hit-and-run driver can qualify for a reward of up to $50,000.
Anyone with information on this case was asked to call Officer Gerald Chavarria at 323-421-2500 or the South Traffic Division watch commander at 323-421-2570. Anonymous tips may be phoned in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
