Firefighters knocked down a brush fire Sunday that scorched an estimated half-acre of grass in Sylmar.
The blaze, which burned along the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway near Hubbard Street was reported at 4:04 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said.
The department sent 36 firefighters to the scene, and they quelled the flames in just over an hour, Prange said. A second fire started nearby but was quickly knocked down by the firefighters at the scene.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened, he said.
