A brush fire impacted traffic along the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Newhall area Saturday, but firefighters held the spread to less than one acre.
The fire was reported at 11:49 a.m. along the southbound freeway at Calgrove Boulevard, according to Dispatch Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
No structures were threatened and Peters said the fire was out at 12:26 p.m.
One person suffered smoke inhalation but declined to be taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.
The California Highway Patrol issued a Sigalert for the No. 4 and No. 5 southbound lanes at Calgrove Boulevard to accommodate fire trucks. The lanes were reopened at about 3:20 p.m.
