The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the 69th time in 70 days, decreasing two-tenths of a cent to $4.852.
The average price has dropped $1.462 over the past 70 days, including 1.6 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 8.9 cents less than one week ago and 37.1 cents lower than one month ago, but 14.1 cents more than one year ago.
The average price has decreased $1.642 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose six-tenths of a cent to $4.685, ending a streak of 37 drops in the past 38 days.
It has decreased 53 cents over the past 38 days, including 1.9 cents Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 10.9 cents less than one week ago, 37.8 cents lower than one month ago but 10.8 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.774 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped for the 68th time in 71 days, decreasing 1.7 cents to $3.185. It is 6.3 cents less than one week ago, 22 cents lower than one month ago and 14.4 cents cheaper than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped 65 cents over the past 71 days, including 1.4 cents Thursday. It dropped 61 consecutive days, was unchanged Wednesday and Thursday, rose two-tenths of a cent Friday, then resumed decreasing Saturday.
The national average price has dropped $1.831 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday that gasoline stocks dropped over the past week in West Coast refineries, but it remains to be seen how much that will affect pump prices since this is typically the time of year with the lowest gasoline demand,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
