The Orange County average price is 5.4 cents less than one week ago, 11 cents lower than one month ago and two-tenths of a cent below what is was one year ago. It has dropped $2.009 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose seven-tenths of a cent to $3.084, ending a four-day streak of decreases totaling 1.7 cents, including one-tenth of a cent Monday. It is 1.2 cents more than one week ago, but 4.4 cents less than one month ago and 33.9 cents lower than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.932 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“We continue to see gasoline prices bouncing off lows, only to re-test them again and again,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.

“While prices jumped in some places, it’s being offset by drops elsewhere, and that has kept alive the possibility of briefly seeing the national average fall to the lowest level since 2021.”
