A greater alarm fire that threatened two two-story fourplexes in South Los Angeles was knocked down in 27 minutes by 49 firefighters Wednesday evening with no injuries.

Firefighters were called to the 300 block of West 50th Street, near Broadway and the Harbor (110) Freeway, at approximately 9:09 p.m. where they encountered intense flames in a row of at least four garages near the fourplexes, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

Using hose lines, firefighters were able to keep the complexes from being damaged by the flames, Prange said.
