The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday eight-tenths of a cent to $4.567, a day after dropping seven-tenths of a cent.

The average price is 4.5 cents less than one week ago, 21.2 cents less than one month ago and 59.8 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.927 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price fell for the 11th day in a row, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.48, a day after dropping six-tenths of a cent.

It is 6 cents less than one week ago, 22 cents less than one month ago and 62.7 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.979 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the 13th straight day, decreasing one-tenth of a cent to $3.454, a day after dropping four-tenths of a cent.

It is 2.7 cents less than one week ago, 6.5 cents less than one month ago and 37.1 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.562 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“One of the biggest factors in the prices we pay at the pump is the price of oil,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“As crude oil costs have moved lower, so too have the prices at the pump, and if this trend continues, Southern California drivers may pay the lowest to fill up for Labor Day road trips since 2021.”
