The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the third consecutive day following a run of four increases in five days totaling 3.3 cents, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $4.589.

The average price has dropped 2.2 cents over the past three days, including a half-cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 1.8 cents less than one month ago and $1.114 lower than one year ago.

The average price has dropped $1.905 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the third consecutive day following a streak of four consecutive increases totaling 3.9 cents, decreasing 1 cent to $4.516. It has dropped 3.6 cents over the past three days, including six-tenths of a cent Thursday.

The Orange County average price is three-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 1.7 cents less than one month ago and $1.008 lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.943 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices fell by about 10 cents in the past week but are still about 40 cents higher than at the end of September,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“We may some pump price drops as we near Nov. 1, when gas stations are able to sell the less expensive winter blend of gasoline.”

The national average price dropped a half-cent to $3.191, one day after decreasing eight-tenths of a cent. It is 1.8 cents less than one week ago, 2.4 cents lower than one month ago and 38.4 cents below what it was one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.825 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
