Five people were hospitalized after they were struck by a vehicle in an alleged hit-and-run collision Tuesday in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, authorities said.
Firefighters were sent to the 2300 block of West Eighth Street, near MacArthur Park, around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday regarding a traffic collision involving a family of five, identified as two adults and three teenage pedestrians, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The cause of the collision was unclear. All victims were taken to a hospital, where four were in fair condition, and one was listed in serious condition, authorities said.
The motorist fled the scene before officials arrived, the fire department reported.
