The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday to its lowest amount since Jan. 24, 2023, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.524.

The average price has dropped 10 of the past 11 days, decreasing 5.5 cents, including seven-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.

The average price is 2.8 cents less than one week ago, 2.3 cents lower than one month ago and 82.1 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.97 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 11, 2023, decreasing 1.4 cents to $4.421. It has dropped four consecutive days, decreasing 5.3 cents, including six-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

The Orange County average price is 4.8 cents less than one week ago, 5.6 cents lower than one month ago and 73.9 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.038 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“We could be seeing pump prices in more Southern California areas drop to their lowest levels of the year in the coming days,” with stations allowed to sell winter blend gasoline, which is cheaper to produce, beginning Friday, said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

The national average price dropped nine-tenths of a cent to $3.122, one day after decreasing four-tenths of a cent. It is 2.2 cents less than one week ago, 8.2 cents lower than one month ago and 34 cents below what it was one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.894 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
