One person was fatally shot and an officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury Tuesday in Long Beach.
The shooting occurred around 5:40 p.m. in the 5200 block of Atlantic Avenue, authorities said.
According to the Long Beach Fire Department, one person was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition, while a second person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reports from the scene indicate that one officer was taken to a hospital after being shot in an arm.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation as of Tuesday evening.
