The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped one-tenth of a cent Monday to $4.407, the second day in a row it decreased one-tenth of a cent.
The average price is 3.9 cents less than one week ago, 9.8 cents less than one month ago and 43.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $2.087 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price also dipped one-tenth of a cent for the second day in a row to $4.328. It is 4.3 cents less than one week ago, 8 cents less than one month ago and 34.3 cents less than one year ago. The Orange County average price has dropped $2.131 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price was unchanged at $3.018, ending a streak of 11 days of decreases in a row. It is 2.9 cents less than one week ago, 7.2 cents less than one month ago and 14.9 cents less than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.998 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“The national average is tantalizingly close to falling below $3 a gallon, and it could happen in a few days,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said on Thursday. “But 32 states already have an average below or well below $3. Hockley County, Texas appears to have the lowest county average, at $2.30.”
