P. Scott Sakamoto of the Bob Dylan film “A Complete Unknown” and Scott Dropkin, Abby Linne and Jed Seus of the Paramount TV series “Yellowstone” were chosen as Camera Operators of the Year at The Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Awards this weekend, the organization announced Sunday.
The awards were handed out Saturday at the Loews Hollywood Hotel at the conclusion of a two-day celebration.
Sakamoto beat out Bianca Butti of “Challengers,” Michael Fuchs of “Wolfs,” Karsten Bloch Jacobsen of “Wicked” and David J. Thompson of “Civil War.”
In the television category, Dropkin, Linne and Seus won for the 14th episode of the fifth season of “Yellowstone,” titled “Life is a Promise.”
Other nominees were Sam Ellison and Eli Aronoff for “The Penguin” (S1E4) Michael Fuchs and Rebecca Rajadnya for “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (S1E1), Chris Haarhoff and Robert Campbell for “Fallout” (S1E1) and Gary Malouf and Chris Dame for “The Bear” (S3E1).
The group’s Governors’ Award was presented to the Los Angeles County Fire Department Air Operations Section, recognizing their efforts in containing January’s wildfires through strategic water drops. The President’s Award honored James Ramos, KTLA5 senior staff news videographer, and CBS2 photojournalist John Schreiber, for exceptional frontline coverage.
