The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose a half-cent Sunday to $4.656, one day after increasing two-tenths of a cent.

The average price is six-tenths of a cents less than one week ago, 12.7 cents lower than a month ago and 37.1 cents below one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.838 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped one-tenth of a cent to $4.606, a day after decreasing four-tenths of a cent. It is has dropped four consecutive days, decreasing 1.3 cents, and is 1.7 cents less than one week ago, 14.4 cents lower than a month ago and 37.7 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.853 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that California Energy Commission data shows four straight weeks of increased gasoline inventory and increased refinery production, so there doesn’t appear to be momentum for prices to increase dramatically any time soon,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

The national average price dropped one-tenth of a cent to $3.126, one day after a streak of three consecutive increases totaling 5.1 cents ended with a decrease of two-tenths of a cent. It is 5 cents more than one week ago but 1.9 cents less than one month ago and 40.8 cents lower than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.89 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
