Southern California Edison crews were working to restore power Saturday at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go music venue in West Hollywood and several nearby businesses after a dump truck slammed into an electricity pole outside the nightclub and then into the back of the music venue.
The truck was heading south on Clark Street near the intersection of Sunset and San Vicente boulevards when its brakes failed at 1:45 p.m. Friday, NBC 4 reported, causing it to strike at least five other vehicles.
A United States Postal Service truck was among the vehicles hit by the dump truck, Saadullah Sheikh, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman, told the Los Angeles Times.
Aerial footage showed the dump truck pinned against the music venue’s rear wall and on top of the other vehicles.
ABC7 reported the truck barely missed several pedestrians as it careened toward the music venue.
LASD Deputy Daniel Dominguez told City News Service that one person was injured in the collision, but no information was available about the extent of the person’s injury.
Friday’s performances were postponed, the club announced on social media. The planned featured attraction was the rock band Boy Hits Car.
Whiskey-A-Go-Go could not be reached to learn when the show would be rescheduled.
SBC crews were still working to repair the electricity pole at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
