A 7-year-old girl was shot and killed while playing with other children in Anaheim Wednesday night.
Police received multiple calls from the 2300 block of Greenacre Avenue about 7:15 p.m. saying there had been multiple shots fired and a child was down, said Lt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department.
Police first tried to resuscitate her and then she was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead at 8 p.m., Dunn said.
Police are not sure if the child was targeted or whether suspects were shooting into a group of playing youngsters, Dunn said.
Police are also trying to determine if the shooting was gang related.
It is not known if the suspect was on foot or in a vehicle, Dunn said.
