Police on Thursday sought the public’s help in identifying a man who threatened to shoot a teller during a bank robbery in Costa Mesa.
The crime occurred just after 4 p.m. Wednesday at a Wells Fargo branch at 301 W. 17th St., said Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott.
The suspect approached a female teller and handed her a note saying he would shoot her if she didn’t hand over cash, Scott said, adding that no handgun was seen.
The teller complied and the suspect fled in an unknown direction, he said. No vehicle was seen.
The man is described as white, in his 30s or 40s, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He had a dark goatee and wore a black baseball cap, black long- sleeve, button-down shirt, a dark tie and a clear rain poncho.
