The driver of a blue Scion led California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit from just outside the City of Industry to Yorba Linda before a California Highway Patrol officer used the PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle, the CHP reported Sunday.

The chase began about 9:30 p.m. near Fullerton Road and Batson Avenue, said CHP Officer Peter Bishop. It ended around 20 minutes later at Valley View Boulevard and Working Way in Yorba Linda.

Officers tried twice to execute the Pursuit Intervention Technique to stop the vehicle and succeeded on the second try, he said. A woman, the driver, was arrested along with her passenger, a man, a news videographer reported from the scene.

The suspects were transported to a hospital to be checked out, a standard procedure after the PIT maneuver is used, Bishop said.

When the PIT maneuver is used, the pursuing driver steers sharply into the side of the target vehicle, causing it to skid and the driver to lose control, making the vehicle spin out or stop.

“They never said why they were pursuing the vehicle,” Bishop said.
