While much of the nation celebrated the Martin Luther King holiday Monday, Santa Ana police were investigating the discovery of Ku Klux Klan “propaganda” items that were left outside more than three dozen residences overnight.

“A resident … reported he found a small (plastic) baggie containing a rock, a candy, a flier and a KKK business card on his driveway this morning in the 2600 block of North Linwood Street,” Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

He said the the flier contains “anti-MLK propaganda,” and about 40 similar bags were left at various homes within a four-block radius.

“No specific threat was noted on the business card, and no crime can be established at this point,” Bertagna said. “Officers have collected numerous bags, and there will be an investigation.”
