Pipe bombs and a cache of weapons were found inside a Yorba Linda home as sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant, prompting a small area to be evacuated overnight.

The discovery was made during the service of a search warrant about 8 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 4500 block of Via Del Valle, prompting about four to five homes in the area to be evacuated for about four hours, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

It was not immediately why the search warrant was issued, Hallock said.

A few unregistered assault rifles and several stolen items related to vehicle burglaries in the area as well as documents related to ID theft were found inside the residence, the sheriff’s sergeant said.

The suspect was not at home when the search warrant was served. No arrests were made, he said, and the investigation was still ongoing.

Deputies asked anyone with information to call them at (714) 647-7000.
