A man in his 20s was shot and made it into an El Pollo Loco restaurant in an unincorporated area near the city of Orange where employees called 911, an Orange County Fire Authority captain said.
The shooting victim was reported at about 8:25 p.m. at 18571 East Chapman Ave., said OCFA Capt. Steve Concialdi.
“He was shot somewhere else and made inside El Pollo Loco,” Concialdi said.
OCFA paramedics transported the victim to Western Medical Center Santa Ana as a trauma patient although his condition was moderate and he was expected to survive, the captain said.
Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said the shooting was possibly gang related.
A news videographer at the scene said investigators were focusing their attention at Earlham Street and Pearl Avenue.
