Irvine Police Thursday asked for the public’s help tracking down a suspect in a residential burglary.
The suspect was caught in a woman’s apartment last week as she arrived home, according to Farrah Emami of the Irvine Police Department.
The resident returned to her home at Dartmouth Court Apartments just after 9 p.m. May 27 when she spotted the suspect hiding in her bathroom, Emami said. The woman shouted at the suspect and then got out of her apartment and waited with a friend to confront him as he exited, Emami said.
When she demanded to know what he was doing in her apartment the suspect emptied his pockets to indicate he hadn’t taken anything and then ran away, Emami said. The victim said the burglar appeared to be timid and socially awkward, Emami said.
The suspect has a fair complexion and could be of Asian descent. He is 20 to 23 years old, stands about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, and weighs about 170 to 180 pounds. He has short, black, spiked hair, was clean shaven and had a round face.
The suspect wore glasses, Asics running shoes, faded and flared jeans and a black T-shirt bearing in red letters, “Raytheon.”
Anyone with information that could help investigators was asked to call Detective Leticia Hernandez at (949) 724-7245.
