A woman was killed and four people, including two young children, critically injured in a three-vehicle hit-and-run collision in Irvine on Wednesday night.

The collision occurred around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Muirlands Boulevard and Alton Parkway, Orange County Fire Authority Captain Larry Kurtz said.

The woman killed was the driver of a white Chevrolet SUV, Kurtz said. A woman passenger and 3- and 6-year-old children were taken to trauma centers, Kurtz said.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 30-year-old woman, was also taken to a trauma center, Kurtz said.

The driver of the third vehicle, a black Mustang, fled the scene, Kurtz said. The driver was being sought by Irvine Police Department officers, but remained at large as of 10:45 p.m., Kurtz said.

The collision occurred within the area of the now closed El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
