A woman and 6-month-old boy, believed to be her son, were attacked Monday in an Anaheim apartment, and police named a 24-year-old man a “person of interest” in the killings.
Kwane Carpenter is being sought, according to Anaheim police Lt. Eric Trapp, who said, “we’d sure like to talk to him.”
The attack took place in an apartment in the 2600 block of West Ball Road, Trapp said. Police were dispatched to the location at 12:10 p.m. on a “felony assault in progress” call, Trapp said.
The victims, whose names were not immediately released, reportedly were stabbed, but investigators have not confirmed how they died.
Trapp said tonight he could confirm the person of interest was the father of the dead child. According to broadcast reports, he lived with the mother and his son. They were involved “in a common law relationship,” Trapp said.
“Right now he is a person of interest. He’s not a suspect. If he were, I would say so,” Trapp said.
Trapp also said he would not be releasing the names of the victims, but the coroner’s office would.
The infant was pronounced dead at an area hospital, and the woman, who was in her mid-20s, died at the scene, Trapp said.
Carpenter is black, 6 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds, Trapp said. He has short black hair and was wearing gray shorts.
He’s believed to be driving a black 2001 Lincoln Town Car that is not registered to him, Trapp said. The license plate number is 199901.
