A burglary suspect whose alleged thefts of jewelry and other valuables were caught on a “nanny cam” in Huntington Beach is now behind bars, police reported Wednesday.

Joseph Cook was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police responded to a theft from a Hobby Lobby store at 7202 Edinger Ave., according to Officer Jennifer Marlatt. The suspect led police on a short foot pursuit before being taken into custody, she said.

When he was brought into the station, detectives investigating a residential burglary in the 19000 block of Worchester Lane, in which the intruder was seen on video camera footage, recognized the suspect in his booking mug shot, Marlatt said.

Cook is accused of vehicle burglary, resisting arrest and residential burglary. He was also wanted on a warrant stemming from a parole violation, Marlatt said.

Cook allegedly stole jewelry, electronic goods and Louis Vuitton purses from the home, Marlatt said. The officer did not provide a monetary value for the loss.
