A 2-year-old girl found unconscious but breathing Saturday in a pool at a Tustin swim school was rescued and is expected to make a full recovery.

Firefighters were called to the Blue Buoy Swim School of Orange County at 1702 Nisson Road at about 1:50 p.m., said Capt. William Lackey of the Orange County Fire Authority.

A water watcher spotted the girl, floating on her back, unconscious and having difficulty breathing. A lifeguard pulled her out and after a few rescue breaths the girl began breathing on her own, the captain said.

She was taken to Kaiser Permanente Orange County-Anaheim Medical Center, where she was in good condition, Lackey said.

The emergency follows the drowning death on Friday of a 56-year-old woman in the 23500 block of Sandstone in Mission Viejo and the near-drowning the same day of a 3-year-old girl at a backyard pool party in Yorba Linda.

The Mission Viejo woman was by herself gardening near a backyard pool and somehow ended up in the water about 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to the captain, who said she was found at the bottom of the deep end by her husband.

A deputy responded, pulled the woman out and performed CPR, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Lackey said.
